Which program is for you?

Class A CDL allows you to drive:
Combination Vehicles (tractor-trailers, semi-trucks)
Flatbed Trucks
Tanker Trucks
Double and Triple Trailers
Refrigerated Trailers (reefer trucks)
Class B CDL allows you to drive:
Straight Trucks (like a box truck, dump truck, or delivery truck)
Buses (school buses, city buses)
Tanker Trucks (if the vehicle is not a combination)
Large Delivery Trucks

Additional Endorsements:
Passenger Endorsement (P) + (S) Allows you to drive vehicles with 16+ passengers, including school buses.

CDL Prerequisite Checklist
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age
    • 18–20-year-olds are allowed to drive intrastate until 21 years of age
  • Valid Texas (C) Drivers’ license
  • Registered students must pass a (DOT) Department of Transportation physical & drug screen
  • 2 Valid proofs of residency
    • (Utility bill, voter registration card, paystub, birth certificate, US passport)
  • Proof of Social Security Card/International students - Passport
  • No outstanding traffic violations
  • Ability to read and speak the English language sufficiently to communicate effectively, understand road signs, complete paperwork, and meet DOT regulations. 
Getting Behind the Wheel

Applying for a Commercial Learner Permit

In your first week of training, we will assist you with obtaining a Commercial Learner Permit (CLP) for at least 14 days. The purpose of this is to allow you an opportunity to obtain behind-the-wheel experience before taking your driving test. You will need to apply for a Commercial Learner's Permit (CLP) if you are:

  • Applying for a CDL for the first time
  • Upgrading your existing CDL (Class C to Class B or Class A, or Class B to Class A), or
  • Adding a passenger or school bus endorsement to an existing CDL

We are now offering weekend CDL training with Ancora. The 8-week training starts on Saturday, November 1st. Training days are Saturday and Sunday, 7:00 am-5:30 pm. The first two sessions will be held at WETC, and the remaining six will be at the Driving Range at Trader's Village.
