Deck the Halls with your Dazzling Designs

Submit your original designs to be used as the official 2023 Alamo Colleges District virtual holiday greeting. Creative entries will be judged by the Alamo Colleges District Strategic Leadership Team.

Open to traditional and new media art! 

This contest is open to any form of art that can be sent via e-mail or printed to mail to recipients.  Examples include:

  • Drawings
  • Paintings
  • Animation
  • Graphic Design
  • Video

It's the most wonderful time of the year!

Join us for the annual Holiday Design Contest. It's an opportunity to showcase the creativity, talent and spirit of the Alamo Colleges District and its family of five colleges.

Current students from any college or related programs are invited to submit their designs for consideration in this contest. We will select three designs that best illustrate the spirit of the Alamo Colleges. The grand prize winner artist will receive a $500 scholarship and have their design featured on holiday-themed communications. 

Suggested themes include college life, winter or the San Antonio skyline.

 

How to Enter

You will need to fill out an application and provide the following information:

  • Name
  • College
  • Area of Study
  • Phone Number
  • ACES Email Address
  • Personal Email Address (Optional)
  • Banner ID
  • A link to your project on a streaming service (YouTube, Vimeo, Google Drive, etc.) for viewing by judges

Contest Rules

  • Participants must be currently enrolled students at the Alamo Colleges District in good academic standing
  • Only original works will be accepted
  • Drawings, Paintings, Animations, Videos/Movies, Graphic Design and photography projects will be accepted. All deliverable assets must be able to be sent via e-mail or printed to mail to recipients.
  • HD or Higher (720p or above)
  • 90 Seconds maximum in length
  • The media project must list or showcase all 5 colleges
    • Northeast Lakeview College, Northwest Vista College, Palo Alto College, St. Philip’s College, and San Antonio College
  • The official Alamo Colleges District logo must be incorporated
  • Submissions will be graded on theme, technical skill, absence of grammatical errors, and overall creativity

Schedule

December 3 (noon) – Deadline for submissions

December 14** – The top three submissions will be chosen and notified via ACES email. Winners may be invited to present their submission at the December 19 board meeting. 

December 19 – Alamo Colleges Board Meeting

First Place

$500* from the Alamo Colleges Foundation

Second Place 

$100* from the Alamo Colleges Foundation

Third Place 

$75* from the Alamo Colleges Foundation

*The award will first apply to any outstanding obligations to Alamo Colleges. Student financial aid recipients will have funds disbursed in accordance with applicable federal regulations.
