We now offer a hands-on course, created with industry, to elevate your skill set as a structures mechanic. This course is ideal for those who are mechanically inclined and able to pass pre-screening assessments.
What is the Heavy Structures program?
Upon successfully completing this course, the student will be able to demonstrate proficiency in layout, drilling, riveting, and fastener installation operations for aluminum and titanium structures. They can interpret and apply applicable work instructions, specifications, and engineering drawings, accurately perform hole layout and determine sizes and tolerances, utilize limited access fastener installation equipment, and adhere to deburring requirements. Additionally, the learner will gain knowledge in drilling ergonomics, drill bit nomenclature, and proper drilling techniques for both materials. This comprehensive course will assess the learner's knowledge through written tests and hands-on performance evaluations, providing them with the necessary skills for successful manufacturing in fields such as Aircraft Line Assembler, Assembler, Assembly Riveter, Sheet Metal Mechanic, Structures Mechanic, and Structures Technician.

At this time, the course will be limited to 12 students—so don’t wait to register! Classes will be hosted in-person at the St. Philips Southwest campus @ 800 Quintana Rd, Adjacent to several premier Aerospace companies. Those who successfully complete the course will be invited to attend a Boeing-hosted hiring event! (Completion of this course does not guarantee employment.)
