FAQs

What is expunction?

Expunction is a legal process that permanently removes certain criminal records from public view. Once expunged, most employers, landlords, and schools cannot access your record.

Who is eligible for the Expunction Program?

Currently enrolled Alamo Colleges District students with arrests, charges, or convictions on their record.

How does the Expunction Program work?

The entire process takes about 4-5 months from start to completion. Here are the steps:

  1. Get Started: Visit your college’s Advocacy Center or call the Student Helpline at 210-486-1111 to let us know you’re interested in the program.

  2. Consent & Registration: Complete a program consent form with your Advocacy Center Case Manager. Then, fill out a registration form with Easy Expunctions to begin a background check and identify eligible charges.

  3. Qualification Review: In 1-3 business days, Easy Expunctions reviews your background and prepares an Eligibility Report that includes cases eligible for removal.

  4. Onboarding Call: An Easy Expunctions Account Manager will contact you to review the steps and confirm you would like to move forward with the program.

  5. Legal Filing & Tracking: Easy Expunctions conducts detailed legal research, prepares your documents, and files them with the court. Your case is tracked while awaiting judicial approval, typically taking 2-3 months.

  6. Expungement & Removal: Easy Expunctions will notify over 1,000 background check companies to update your status and remove the expunged record from their databases once the judge approves your case.
