Alamo Colleges District Named Finalist for 2024 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award

The Alamo Colleges District has been named a finalist for the prestigious 2024 Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award.

The Alamo Colleges District is one of nine organizations in the United States – and the only education organization – to receive site visits this summer, proceeding to the final phase for applicant assessments for the Baldrige Award.

“Our organization is moving the needle as we strive to achieve the highest level of student success and performance excellence,” said Dr. Mike Flores, Alamo Colleges District Chancellor. "This recognition is a testament to the efforts of our nearly 6,000 employees, who are committed to our moonshot of ending poverty through education and training. We remain dedicated to providing access to quality education and fostering economic and social mobility in the communities we proudly serve."

The Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award is the nation’s highest presidential honor for performance excellence through innovation, improvement, and visionary leadership.

In 2018, the Alamo Colleges District was the first community college system in the nation to be awarded the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award. 

What comes next?

The Alamo Colleges District will receive a hybrid site visit including virtual interviews of applicants and two days of on-site examination in late July. During the upcoming site visits, Baldrige examiner teams will verify organizational performance results in critical areas, evaluate key processes that drove those results, and explore role-model characteristics.

The Baldrige Award’s Judges’ Panel will reconvene in September 2024 to review findings about the site-visited organizations’ performance and determine which organizations will be recommended to the U.S. Secretary of Commerce to be named 2024 Baldrige Award recipients.
