Alamo Colleges District Received Insight Into Academia Magazine’s Inaugural Top Colleges for Innovation Award

National recognition of institutions leading innovation across higher education

The Alamo Colleges District has received the 2026 Top Colleges for Innovation Award from Insight Into Academia magazine, the nation’s longest-running publication focused on advancing best practices in higher education.

The inaugural award recognizes colleges and universities where innovation is embedded in vision, strategy, and measurable impact. 

As a two-time recipient of the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award, the Alamo Colleges District continues to be recognized nationally for its commitment to excellence, student success, and continuous improvement. The district’s selection for the Top Colleges for Innovation Award reflects its ongoing work to expand access, strengthen student support, and create more seamless pathways to completion and career readiness. 

“This recognition reflects the work of our faculty, staff, and partners who are helping us better serve students and prepare them for the future of work,” said Dr. Mike Flores, Chancellor of the Alamo Colleges District.

The Alamo Colleges District was recognized for several initiatives, including expanded success coaching for fully online students, the growth of Alamo Online Communities to support virtual engagement and belonging, the integration of experiential learning across academic programs, and AlamoFORWARD strategic planning process. Together, these initiatives reflect the district’s focus on using data, collaboration, and student-centered innovation to improve outcomes.
