Alamo Colleges District Trustee advances as finalist for national leadership award

The Association of Community College Trustees has named Dr. Clint Kingsbery, Alamo Colleges District District 8 Trustee and immediate past board chair, the recipient of its 2026 Western Regional Trustee Leadership Award.

The award recognizes Dr. Kingsbery’s leadership, commitment to learner success and contributions to the Alamo Colleges District and the Greater San Antonio community. ACCT annually honors one outstanding trustee from each of its five regions for making significant contributions to community colleges.

As the Western Region recipient, Dr. Kingsbery is now one of five national finalists for the 2026 M. Dale Ensign Trustee Leadership Award. The national recipient will be announced during the 2026 ACCT Leadership Congress, scheduled for Oct. 21-24 in Chicago.

Dr. Kingsbery recently completed his term as chair of the Alamo Colleges District Board of Trustees. His tenure was marked by record growth, national recognition, continued innovation and strong community support for the District’s future.

During his time as chair, the Alamo Colleges District served nearly 90,000 learners and celebrated approximately 15,000 graduates in a single academic year. The District also received the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award for a second time, expanded its award-winning advising model and launched AlamoU, which provides learners with opportunities to earn bachelor’s degrees at the Alamo Colleges.

Dr. Kingsbery also helped lead the District during the successful passage of a nearly $1 billion bond program. The investment will expand access, strengthen academic and workforce programs and prepare more learners for high-demand careers throughout the region.

A longtime educator, Dr. Kingsbery has dedicated his career to advancing learner success and strengthening educational opportunities for the San Antonio community.

Dr. Kingsbery was also among the first 18 community college leaders nationwide to complete Level 1 of the ACCT Excel Trustee Leadership Program. Designed specifically for community college trustees, the professional development and credentialing program strengthens participants’ knowledge and skills in effective governance, advocacy and leadership.

Dr. Kingsbery and the other regional award recipients will be recognized at the 2026 ACCT Leadership Congress. The annual gathering brings together community college trustees, presidents and education leaders from across the country to share strategies for strengthening colleges and the communities they serve.
