Alamo Colleges District Immediate Past Board Chair Elected to Community College Association of Texas Trustees Board of Directors

Dr. Clint Kingsbery, District 8 Trustee, was elected to serve as Chair-Elect on the Board of Directors of the Community College Association of Texas Trustees (CCATT) during the Association's Annual Conference held September 17-19, 2026, in Baytown, Texas.

CCATT is the statewide organization representing trustees and regents who govern Texas community colleges. The Association promotes effective governance, trustee education, advocacy, and leadership development in support of student success and strong local colleges across the state.

The election occurred on Friday, September 18, during the CCATT Annual Business Meeting as trustees and college leaders gathered from across Texas for the 2026 conference, themed Sustainable Success: Community College Governance & Long-Term Impact. Conference sessions focused on governance, advocacy, workforce development, student success, data-informed decision-making, and the long-term sustainability of Texas community colleges.

Dr. Kingsbery was elected as Chair-Elect, representing the Alamo Colleges District on the statewide board. Other trustees elected to CCATT leadership positions include the following:

• Secretary: Dr. Tara Deaver, Odessa College
• At-Large Director*: Erica Benavides Garcia, Laredo College
• Central Region Director: Gigi Edwards Bryant, Austin Community College
• North Region Director: Dr. Lisa Bellows, North Central Texas College
• South Region Director: Edward C. Camarillo, Texas Southmost College
• Southeast Region Director: ‘Bel Sanchez, Alvin College
• West Region Director: Bonnie Najera, El Paso Community College

Dr. Kingsbery recently completed his term as chair of the Alamo Colleges District Board of Trustees. His tenure was marked by record growth, national recognition, continued innovation and strong community support for the District’s future.

During his time as chair, the Alamo Colleges District served nearly 90,000 learners and celebrated approximately 15,000 graduates in a single academic year. The District also received the Malcolm Baldrige National Quality Award for a second time, expanded its award-winning advising model and launched AlamoU, which provides learners with opportunities to earn bachelor’s degrees at the Alamo Colleges.

Dr. Kingsbery also helped lead the District during the successful passage of a nearly $1 billion bond program. The investment will expand access, strengthen academic and workforce programs and prepare more learners for high-demand careers throughout the region.

A longtime educator, Dr. Kingsbery has dedicated his career to advancing learner success and strengthening educational opportunities for the San Antonio community.

Through service on the CCATT Board of Directors, Dr. Kingsbery will help guide statewide initiatives and advocacy efforts that support effective governance and strengthen Texas community colleges' ability to serve students, employers, and communities.
