Alamo Colleges District Announces Resignation of Trustee Gloria Ray
October 29, 2026

Gloria Ray, District 2 Trustee and Vice Chair of the Alamo Colleges District Board of Trustees, has submitted her resignation, effective October 25, 2026.
Trustee Ray’s service to the Alamo Colleges District began long before her election to the Board in 2020. Over the years, she served as the elected chair of the District’s Citizens Advisory Committees for multiple projects, providing leadership and guidance for more than $1 billion in capital improvements, including the development of the District’s headquarters.
“Trustee Ray has dedicated many years to the Alamo Colleges District and the people we serve,” said Board Chair Joe Alderete, Jr. “Her belief in the power of education, her commitment to District 2 and her leadership on behalf of our students have made a lasting difference. On behalf of the Board, I thank her for her service and partnership.”
During her time on the Board, Trustee Ray supported the District’s work to expand educational opportunities and advance its Moonshot to end poverty through education and training.
In her resignation letter, Trustee Ray described serving the District’s students, faculty, staff and communities as “one of the greatest honors” of her public service career.
“Trustee Ray has been a champion for our students and a dedicated supporter of our mission,” said Alamo Colleges District Chancellor Dr. Mike Flores. “We are grateful for her leadership and for the many ways she has helped create opportunities for the communities we serve.”
A Special Board Meeting is planned for November 10, 2026, to formally accept Trustee Ray’s resignation and consider establishing a process for accepting and reviewing applicants and appointing an interim trustee for District 2. The formal agenda will be posted on November 4, 2026.
