The Alamo Global Student Distinction program offers you opportunities to earn recognition for your acquisition of global competencies in your official co-curricular transcript. This distinction will help you stand out in today's job market.
Participate in any qualifying international activity, complete the capstone project to demonstrate your global competence, and earn “miles” toward your journey to the Alamo Global Student Distinction.
By the end of the program, students will be able to...
- demonstrate an awareness of the interconnectedness of local and global issues.
- identify issues from cross-cultural perspectives.
- engage effectively in cross-cultural interactions.
Levels of AGS
The miles you earn from qualifying activities accumulate toward 3 levels of distinction to complete your AGS journey:
LEVEL 1: Global Citizen (18 - 21 miles)
LEVEL 2: Diplomat (22 - 25 miles)
LEVEL 3: Ambassador (26 + miles)
How to Enroll
If you are interested in graduating with AGS distinction, please complete the following:
1. Enroll in the program by completing our online form.
2. You will receive a Welcome Email with instructions on how to use our Canvas and AlamoExperience pages.
The goal of the Alamo Global Student Distinction program is to prepare students to live and work in an increasingly interdependent and multicultural world, while having the knowledge, skills, and attitudes of a competent global citizen. The program, therefore, provides Alamo Colleges students with the opportunity to earn notable recognition for obtaining certain global competencies that are important in student's professional development in the workforce following graduation. It reflects not just the dedication of a group of faculty and administrators but also Alamo Colleges District's commitment to global learning and experiences.

GENIE provides a mutual benefit for students as they forge relationships with each other, develop new perspectives, and form multicultural competencies that assist them throughout their educational journeys
Students will have to be signed in to ACES in order to view the list of events.
Students may select and review the upcoming countries that are available, in our Study Abroad Program. Programs may be two weeks up to a year-long. Search current programs and instructions on how to apply.
