May 14, 2026
Two members of the Alamo Colleges District Board of Trustees were ceremoniously sworn in for new six-year terms during the Alamo Colleges District’s Committee of the Whole meeting on May 12.
Board Chair Dr. Clint Kingsbery, who represents District 8, and Dr. Lorena “Lorraine” Pulido, who represents District 4, took the oath of office as they continue their service to the Alamo Colleges District for six-year terms.
Dr. Kingsbery has served on the Board since June 2014 and has held several leadership roles, including Secretary, Vice Chair, and, since 2024, Chair of the Board. As Chair, he provides governance leadership and strategic oversight in support of the District’s mission to empower students, strengthen communities, and expand access to high-quality academic and workforce pathways.
In addition to his service on the Board, Dr. Kingsbery is the Associate Director of Retention Initiatives at Texas A&M University–San Antonio, where he leads efforts focused on student persistence, retention strategy, TSI compliance, and academic technology. His work reflects a commitment to student support, institutional effectiveness, and data-informed decision-making.
Dr. Kingsbery also serves on the Board of Directors for the Community College Association of Texas Trustees, where he chairs the Education Committee, and serves nationally on the Member Communications and Education Committee for the Association of Community College Trustees. His community service also includes leadership with SOLI Chamber Ensemble and Each One Teach One.
A former mathematics educator in Northside ISD, Dr. Kingsbery holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics, a master’s degree in Higher Education Leadership and Policy Studies, and a Ph.D. in Higher Education Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Texas at San Antonio.
Dr. Pulido, who was first elected in December 2020, was ceremoniously sworn in by her son, who earned his associate’s degree last year from Palo Alto College and is now pursuing his bachelor’s degree at UT San Antonio.
A longtime communications leader, educator, and community advocate, Dr. Pulido brings more than 30 years of experience in communications, public service, and education.
She currently serves as Director of Communications for San Antonio Independent School District and previously held communications leadership roles with VIA Metropolitan Transit and the City of San Antonio. She also made history as the first woman and first Latina to chair the Brooks Development Authority Board of Directors.
Dr. Pulido is an advocate for students, especially those balancing parenthood and academics. Her own experience as a teen mother shaped her commitment to educational access and student success. She earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of Pennsylvania, a master’s degree from the Columbia University School of Journalism, and a Ph.D. from Our Lady of the Lake University.
In addition to her professional work, Dr. Pulido has taught hundreds of students as an adjunct professor over the past 24 years, including at Texas A&M University–San Antonio. Her service and leadership have earned her recognition in the San Antonio Women’s Hall of Fame and the Harlandale Independent School District Hall of Fame.
Dr. Kingsbery and Dr. Pulido will continue to guide the Alamo Colleges District as it advances its moonshot to partner to end poverty through education and training.
