Alexuss Green: Made to be Intentional

Alexuss Green is living with intention.

When Alexuss and her mother arrived in San Antonio, they quickly discovered that life there would be far from simple. They lived in a homeless shelter while trying to get back on their feet. One day, Alexuss passed San Antonio College (SAC) and made herself a promise.

“I’m going to enroll. I’m going to get a degree, and I’m going to make something better of my life.”

San Antonio College became a symbol of hope. Its downtown location made it accessible, and Alexuss quickly fell in love with the campus and the supportive community she found here. However, when life took an unexpected turn, she had to step away from school.

Finding Her Way Back

When Alexuss was laid off during the COVID-19 pandemic, she saw it not as a setback but as an opportunity.

“I have to go back and finish what I started.”

As she explored her options, she discovered that the San Antonio College offered flexible online classes through AlamoONLINE—and she never looked back.

After a decade away from college, Alexuss returned to SAC and was welcomed like she had never left. Her academic advisor continued to encourage her through every step of her journey.

“Even when I dropped out, my advisor never stopped believing in me,” Alexuss said.

Why Online Learning Works for Alexuss

Balancing full-time ministry work and a part-time job is not easy, but AlamoONLINE makes it possible. Alexuss was able to set up her own schedule, stay connected with classmates and professors through Zoom and email, and receive quick responses whenever she needed help.

Alexuss uses online resources regularly, including the digital library, tutoring, and Canva. No matter where she is, she has access to help and her classes.

She will soon complete her degree in Communication Speech at San Antonio College.

“I am finally going to achieve my degree and close this chapter at the Alamo Colleges, and it has been great.”
