You can apply to graduate once you are registered for classes that will complete the requirements for a degree or certificate.

Graduation Application

To receive your degree or certificate, you must complete a graduation application. In the application, you can notify us if you’ll be attending your college’s commencement ceremony and order a cap and gown.  

Your graduation application deadline depends on the term you’re graduating from. 

  • Fall Semester: October 31 
  • Spring Semester: March 15 
  • Summer Semester: June 30 

 

How to Apply for Graduation 

  • Log in to your ACES student portal 
  • Click “Enrollment” from the menu 
  • Under the ‘Apply for Graduation’ card, click “Submit Your Graduation Application”  
  • Complete all the required fields of your graduation application 

Monitor your student.alamo.edu address for updates about your application and information about the graduation ceremony, caps & gowns, parking passes, and more. 

 

Commencement Ceremony

We look forward to celebrating your academic achievement together. Each college hosts its own commencement ceremony. To find details about your college's ceremony, please select your college from the links provided.

Participation in the commencement ceremony is optional, and your attendance is not required to receive your diploma.

When can I apply for graduation?

You can apply to graduate once you are registered for classes that will complete the requirements for a degree/certificate.

It's important to review your Degree Plan or check in with your Certified Advisor with questions or concerns.

How do I apply for graduation?

To apply for graduation:  

  • Log in to your ACES student portal 
  • Click “Enrollment” from the menu 
  • Under the ‘Apply for Graduation’ card, click “Submit Your Graduation Application”  
  • Complete all the required fields of your graduation application

When are graduation applications due?

Graduation application deadlines depend on the term you’re graduating from. These are the application deadlines:  

  • Fall Semester:  October 31 
  • Spring Semester:  March 15

Is there a fee to apply for graduation?

No, there is no graduation application fee.

What if the information provided on my graduation application has changed?

If the information you provide on your graduation application has changed or is incorrect, contact your college’s graduation team. List contact info for each college.

If I applied for graduation but didn't graduate, do I need to resubmit a graduation application?

Yes, students who did not earn a degree are required to submit a new graduation application.

Am I required to attend the commitment ceremony to graduate and receive my diploma?

No, you are not required to attend the ceremony to receive your diploma.

When will I receive my diploma?

Your diploma will be mailed to the primary address listed in ACES 8-10 working weeks after the official close of the term you have graduated.

 

Can I purchase an additional diploma?

Students can purchase additional diplomas at any time after a degree/certificate has been awarded. There is a $25 fee for each reprint. To request a reprint or duplicate diploma, click here.

Graduation gowns should fit loosely so they hang over your body without restricting movement.

We kindly ask to double-check your gown size carefully.
We are unable to process refunds or exchanges.

How much is the cap and gown?

All graduates are eligible to receive one complimentary cap and gown.

Where do I pick up my cap and gown?

Your college will email information about the caps and gown pick-up and other commencement ceremony details to your student.alamo.edu address.

What if I applied for graduation but was not awarded my degree or certificate?

If you are missing requirements, you'll need to reapply the following semester by the official deadline.
