Integrated Basic Education Skills Training (I-BEST)
Our program is designed to assist students that may not be college ready gain the skills needed for a college training, without first completing developmental education or GED.
The Alamo I-BEST Initiative provides training and employment assistance to workers and students who require basic skill development in order to succeed in technical training. I-BEST students benefit from technical training that is aligned with reading, writing, math or language skills needed for the job.

I-BEST stands for Integrated Basic Education Skills Training. It is a program which is funded through a variety of grants. I-BEST is designed to provide on demand workforce training to those who qualify.
- Having earned any type of College degree in the United States
- Not having a right to work in the United States (if bridging into a training)
No. IBEST is not based on income qualification to participate.
No, if qualified, the training is at no cost to the student; however, attendance is top priority to succeed and we hold students accountable for attendance.
Yes. Some certifications do not require a GED/Diploma; however, IBEST will work with you to get your GED and certification.
IBEST offers Integrated Education Training (link to IET) training such Certified Nursing Assistant, Information Technology, etc.

All students interested in IBEST training have to participate in the Smart Choice assessment.
Shot records which can be obtain through the City of San Antonio (if you are from San Antonio)
- Varicella 1st Dose & 2nd Dose
- Hepatitis B 1st, 2nd, & 3rd Dose (or Titer)*
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella)
- Tuberculosis (TB) Test Results (within 1 year)
Immunization records must include Tuberculosis test result not older than 1 year and entire 3-part Hepatitis B series which may take up to 6 months to complete for student who have not had the immunization. If Hepatitis B series is over 10 years old a Titer (blood test) or booster is required to verify Hepatitis B immunization is currently active
