How to Prepare For a TEOG Award

Each year the Alamo Colleges District awards a state financial aid grant known as the Texas Educational Opportunity Grant (TEOG) to over 1,700 first-time and renewal recipient students.

This year it is anticipated that more eligible students will be awarded than ever before! Read ahead to find out what changes are coming for 2023-2024 and how to prepare.

First-Time Recipients

Requirements

If you are awarded a TEOG grant for the first time, you will be required to complete the following steps within 45 days:

1. Complete the required forms on ACES
2. Accept your award offer on ACES

If you have not completed these steps within 45 days of the offer, your TEOG will be cancelled. This new rule has been implemented to ensure TEOG can be offered to every eligible student waiting to be awarded, as our funding is first-come first-serve. Make sure you log onto ACES before the deadline!

Follow these steps on ACES:
Complete Your Requirements
  1. Log in to ACES, using your Alamo Colleges District username and password
  2. Select the 'My Page' tab from the menu bar in the left grey column
  3. View the 'Financial Aid Requirements' on the column on the right
  4. Click on the link, ‘State Financial Aid Eligibility Form’, to complete the form online
  5. Next click on the link, ‘Selective Service Statement of Registration Status’, to complete the form online (Note: If this form is not visible on your account, you are not required to complete it).

Accept your Award
  1. To accept your award, select the 'Financial Aid Awards' link found below 'Financial Aid Requirements' 
  2. Select ‘Aid Year 2023-2024’ from the dropdown and click 'Submit'
  3. Select the grey 'Accept Award Offer' tab
  4. Click on ‘Accept Full Amount All Awards’ and click ‘Submit’ to accept TEOG 

 

Renewal Recipients

Requirements

If you have previously received a TEOG award, you will also notice some changes starting this Fall 2023. Although your TEOG award is automatically renewed in an accepted status, you will need to:

1. Complete the required forms on ACES

The forms only need to be completed once during your time at Alamo. Additionally, there is not a 45 day completion deadline for renewal receipients.

Follow these steps on ACES:

  1. Log in to ACES, using your Alamo Colleges District username and password
  2. Select the 'My Page' tab from the menu bar in the left grey column
  3. View the 'Financial Aid Requirements' on the column on the right
  4. Click on the link, ‘State Financial Aid Eligibility Form’, to complete the form online
  5. Next click on the link, ‘Selective Service Statement of Registration Status’, to complete the form online (Note: If this form is not visible on your account, you are not required to complete it).
