Internships

Internships are supervised, workplace learning experiences for students in which they learn and apply academic knowledge and skill and gain an understanding of their field of study.

A college intern benefits from internship experiences as you become familiar with the industry, make professional contacts, and understand the various roles of professionals in the workplace.

Internships may be part- or full-time, be paid or unpaid, and may take place in a business or non-profit organization. Internships can be located through general computer searches and on ACES My Page GRADELEADERs which provides a list of internship opportunities eveloped specifically for Alamo Colleges students, as well as internship opportunities offered by local businesses and organizations and some state and federal opportunities.

If you are seeking an internship, begin your search 3-6 months in advance. Frequently, employers will request a cover letter, transcripts, proof of college enrollment, letters of recommendations, and will expect to receive a well-written and formatted resume. It is common for postings for summer internships to be available as early as February or March.
