Online learning at our five Alamo Colleges offers tremendous benefits if you are looking to gain a competitive edge in the fluctuating job market, where employment opportunities have been unpredictable as a result of COVID-19. While some industries, such as retail, food service, and hospitality are announcing layoffs due to a loss of customers and revenue, other industries remain unaffected. SA Works, a workforce development organization located in San Antonio, tracks high-demand, high wage jobs in growing industries across the city and county.

In the 2020 Jobs Report: Covid-19 Edition, SA Works lists First-line Supervisors of Production and Operating Workers as a high-demand role. A career track in this field requires managerial skills expertise, which can be acquired with a fully online degree in Business Management or Project Management. If you need a credential as soon as possible, the Alamo Colleges also offer certificates that can prepare you for the jobs listed in the report. For instance, there is a high demand for accountants and auditors. To gain the skills you need for entry-level accounting work, you can earn a Bill and Account Collector Level 1 Certificate 100% online in as little as two semesters.

This article is organized into sections representing the AlamoINSTITUTES. The Institutes are how the Alamo Colleges categorizes all programs, degrees, and certificates available to students. Each institute aligns with a professional career field. The following series of articles explains several high-demand fields within each Institute and denotes specific fully online offerings that you can pursue at the Alamo Colleges in that AlamoINSTITUTE.

Every online program offered by the Alamo Colleges provides you with the knowledge you need to succeed in your chosen career. Upon completing a certificate or degree, you should be fully prepared to apply your skills to current high demand fields, such as those mentioned in the SA Works Jobs Report and detailed in this series.
