Completing the L2L Certification

Northwest Vista College is dedicated to helping students and supporting them in their academic achievement. One way we do this is by having students build skills that will help them academically and in life. The NVC Learning to Lead program (L2L) is designed to provide FREE opportunities for NVC Students to develop and enhance personal, leadership and professional skills. Through this program, students are able to participate in both face-to-face as well as online trainings.

There are multiple steps to complete the L2L Tier 1 certification. Students are encouraged to begin working on the certification early in the semester, so as to be able to meet the deadline. Each step has more specific information s well as set deadlines for completion in the P.A.S.S. canvas course. Please refer back to the canvas module for those specific instructions. See more information about each step below.

L2L Tier I Certification Requirements:

Access L2L through the Alamo Experience portal in ACES.

Complete 10 hours of L2L trainings- through the Alamo Experience portal in ACES. There are many trainings available for you to choose that will satisfy this requirement. In addition, the interviewing advisor will provide you with recommended trainings to complete. Be sure you are only selecting trainings listed on the Events tab of the L2L portal.

Complete the L2L CareerAssessment- through the Alamo Experience portal in ACES. Directions and access are found under the L2L Events tab.

Submit a resume to be reviewed by the Career Services Advisors- you may find more information on how to submit a resume through Optimal Resume here  and click on the Job Readiness tab. Resume reviews may take 5-7 business days to be completed, therefore it is not recommended you wait until the end of semester to complete.

Request an Experience transcript- in Alamo Experience under the Student tab. Be sure that your transcript shows you have completed all 10 trainings (show hosted by L2L program), and credit has been applied for the Career Assessment.

Complete the Application for Certification- log into the L2L portal, and complete the Tier 1 Certification application: You will need to upload:

  • Your Experience Transcript
  • the Reviewed Professional Resume

Complete the application and hit submit. It may take several days to receive notification of your certification.

Submit a copy of your certification to the Academic Standards team through the PASS Canvas course as a file upload.

Each step must be completed and an Alamo Experience transcript must be requested and received prior to completing the application for certification. If you do not complete all steps as recommended, your application will be declined, and you will need to resubmit. This will delay your ability to meet the deadlines below.

All Steps must be completed by the deadline below:

 Fall Deadline: December 15th

 Spring Deadline: May 15th
